Frequently asked questions
Question Answer
Why does the appliance make a lot of noise, produce an unpleasant smell, produce smoke or feel hot? The appliance may have been used too long without interruption. If this is the case, stop using the appliance and let it cool down for 60 minutes. If the problem persists, contact your Philips dealer or a service centre authorised by Philips.
Can I process boiling hot ingredients? Let the ingredients cool down to approx. 80°C/175°F before you process them.
Which size should the ingredients have before I process them? Cut the ingredients into pieces of approx. 2x2cm.
Is it possible to damage the appliance by processing very hard ingredients? Yes, the appliance may get damaged if you process very hard ingredients such as bones and fruit with stones. However, the appliance is suitable for processing ingredients like Parmesan cheese or chocolate. With the XL chopper (HR1662 only) you can also crush ice cubes.
Why does the appliance suddenly stop working? Some hard ingredients may block the blade unit. Release the power-on or turbo button and unplug the appliance. Then detach the motor unit and remove the ingredients that block the blade unit.
