Note:
Make sure the paper is loaded against the edge guide
and not sticking out from the end of the cassette.

Slide the edge guides against the paper, but not too
tight. Make sure the paper is under the tabs on the edge
guides.

Gently insert the paper cassette.
Note:
The paper may slide forward slightly as you insert the
cassette. This is normal.

Extend the output tray and raise the stopper as shown.

Connect the fax line
To fax, connect the phone cord to a telephone wall jack and
to the
LINE
port on your product. To connect a telephone or
answering machine, use the
EXT.
port on your product. See
the
Quick Guide
for more details.
Note:
If you’re connecting to a DSL phone line, you must use a DSL
filter or you won’t be able to fax. Contact your DSL provider for the
necessary filter.

Caution:
Do not open ink cartridge packages until you are ready to
install the ink. Cartridges are vacuum packed to maintain reliability.
Remove all protective materials.

Turn on

Connect the power cord to the back of the printer and to an
electrical outlet.
Caution:
Do not connect to your computer yet.

Press the
power button.

To select English as your language, press

. If you want
to change the language, press or to select it, then

.

Press the number keys to enter the date and press

Press the number keys to enter the time. Then select

Install ink cartridges
1
Lift the scanner unit.

Open the cartridge cover.

Shake the ink cartridges gently 4 or 5 times, then
unpack them.

Remove only the yellow tape from each cartridge.
Caution:
Don’t remove any other seals or the cartridges may
leak.

Insert the cartridges in the holder for each color. Press
each cartridge down until it clicks.

Close the cartridge cover. Press down until it clicks into
place. Then lower the scanner unit.

Ink priming begins. This takes about 6 minutes.
Note:
Your printer ships with full cartridges and part of the ink
from the first cartridges is used for priming the printer.
Caution:
Don’t turn off the printer while it is priming or you’ll
waste ink.

Load paper
You can load letter-, A4-, or legal-size paper, as well as
envelopes, and various sizes of photo paper in cassette �. In

cassette 2, you can load only letter-, A4-, or legal-size plain
paper. For instructions on loading envelopes, photo paper,

Pull out a paper cassette.

Squeeze and slide out the edge guides.

Insert the paper with the glossy or printable side
facedown.
