Cylinder Select Device
This MSD product is set for 8-cylinder operation at the factory.
To reprogram this MSD product for 4 or 6 cylinder operation,
find the Cylinder-Select Device (Figure 1) on the unit panel and
remove the Phillips screw holding the cover.
The Cylinder-Select Device has a Red and a Blue wire loop
which are used for programming the unit for 4 or 6 cylinder
operation. Cut the loops as described below for the number
of cylinders on the engine.
8-cylinder: Do not cut any loops
6-cylinder: Cut only the Red loop
4-cylinder: Cut both the Red and Blue loops
After cutting the loops turn the cut wire ends away from each
other so that they will not short out to each other (Figure 2).
Be sure to reinstall the cap onto the Cylinder-Select Device and secure with the Phillips screw.
