Motorola MC55a Mobile Computer from MICROS
MICROS Systems introduces the Motorola MC55a to the Mobile
MICROS handheld program.
The MC55a is a highly ruggedized
device perfectly suited to the often harsh conditions of a
hospitality environment.
Drop and spill resistant, the MC55a
will provide years of trouble free service. For the rare occurrence
where an MC55a is damaged,
MICROS has bundled a
3 Year,
comprehensive service program
, ensuring the unit is
repaired quickly to reduce operational impact.
The MC55a is the next generation of the very successful MC55
line, and improves on the previous device in a number of ways,
including:
High bright VGA display provides greater resolution
Marvell PXA320 processor is faster and more power efficient than
the previous MC55 (5590) processor
Increased memory and flash storage
Improved drop, tumble and sealing specifications
In addition to the 3 Year Comprehensive Bronze Service
program, the MICROS MC55a configuration is equipped with
an
extended life battery
(3600mAh), 1D/2D imager/scanner,
and MICROS CAL (required to use as a MICROS device).

*Simphony 2.4 will support a specific configuration of the MC55a running Windows CE6.0 R3. A mechanism for
migrating MC55a Windows Mobile 6.5 units to Windows CE 6.0 R3 will be made available for customers wishing to
upgrade from RES, 9700 or Simphony 1.x to Simphony 2.x.
Due to the significant differences between the MC55 (5590) and MC55a (55a0),
the MC55a is not
backwards compatible, and previous versions of MICROS applications do not support this
MC55a device.
Additional releases may become available based upon demand.
CAL Client and CAL Server (Required to use MC55a as a MICROS device)
The MC55a includes a CAL Client which contains additional security features for CAL reconfiguration.
When re-configuring the CAL, you are prompted to enter a security code in order to continue. The
code emulates the traditional MICROS equation used in diagnostic testing. CAL Server is required to
use the MC55a (without it, the MC55a is not recognized as a MICROS device).
"Loading the manual" means you need to wait until the file loads and becomes available for online reading. Some manuals are very large, and the time they take to appear depends on your internet speed.
