RSE261 Dual Sonic Exciter
The RSE261 Dual Sonic Exciter is a t wo channel frequency compensation de-
vice designed to add life and animation to your sound. For recording applica-
tions, t he RSE261 is essential to perfect a final mixdown. DJs use t he unit for
the incredible "thumping" bot tom end that is enhanced, as well as t he cr ystal
clear high end. And t he RSE261 is used by t hose in live sound reinforcement
sit uations to deliver t he final touches for t he ideal live mix.

WHAT IS A SONIC EXCITER?
The human ear can detect a frequency range of roughly 20Hz to 20kHz. How-
ever, the frequency response t hat a normal speaker can effectively reproduce is
much, much less. Additionally, speakers add distortion and phase changes t hat
make the sound quite different from t hat of t he original material.
A sonic exciter restores clarit y and presence to t he processed signal by correct-
ing phase changes and harmonic struct ure differences. In ot her words, it puts
the components of t he sound back where t hey belong.
All of t his magic is done by t he use of all-pass filtering, frequency compensated
gain adjustment, and compensated f requency domain delay. What t his means
to you is t he elements of your sound are fanned out like a deck of cards, making
each sound more audible and distinct, reducing t he need for high volume and
radical equalizer adjustment.
