RP262 Stereo Sonic Exciter

The RP262 Stereo Sonic Exciter is a two channel frequency compensation

device designed to add life and animation to your sound. For recording appli-

cations, the RP262 provices crisp, clean, and animation to a final mixdown.

DJs use the unit for the incredible "thump" and bottom end that is enhanced,

as well as the crystal clear high end that's maintained. And the RP262 is used

by those in live sound reinforcement situations to deliver the final touches on

a perfect live mix.

WH AT IS A SONIC EXCITER?

The human ear can detect a frequency range of roughly 20Hz to 20kHz. How-

ever, t he frequency response that a normal speaker can effectively reproduce is

much, much less. Additionally, speakers add distor tion and phase changes t hat

make the sound quite diff erent from that of t he original material.
A sonic exciter rest ores clarit y and presence to t he processed signal by correct-

ing phase changes and harmonic st ruct ure diff erences. In other words, it puts

t he components of t he sound back where they belong.
All of this magic is done by the use of all-pass filtering, f requency compensated

gain adjustment, and compensated f requency domain delay. W hat this means

t o you is the elements of your sound are fanned out like a deck of cards, making

each sound more audible and dist inct , reducing the need for high volume and

radical equalizer adjustment.
