Operating Instructions

BEFORE OPERATING THIS PRODUCT, READ, UNDERSTAND,
AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
Be sure to save this booklet for future reference.

ENGLISH

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

CAUTION :

TO PREVENT ELECTRIC SHOCK, MATCH WIDE BLADE OF PLUG TO WIDE SLOT,
FULLY INSERT.

WARNING :

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE THE
APPLIANCE TO RAIN OR MOISTURE.

1. Read instructions-All the safety and ope rating instructions shou ld be read before the app lianc e is

operated.

2. Retain instructions-The safety and operating instructions should be retained for future reference.
3. Head Warnings-All warnings and cautions on the appliance and in the ope rating instructions shou ld

be adhered to.

4. Follow instructions-All ope rating and use instructions should be followed.
5. Water and Moisture-The appliance should not be used near water, e.g. near a bathtub, washbowl,

kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool or the like.

6. Wall or Ceiling Moun ting-The app lianc e should not be mounted to a wall or ceiling.
7. Ventilation-The appliance shou ld be situated so that its loca tion or pos ition does not interfere with its

proper ven tilation. For exa mple, the appliance should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar
surface that may block the ventilation ope nings, or placed in a built-in installation, such as a boo kca se
or cabinet, that may imped e the flow of air through the ven tilation ope nings.

8. heat-The appliance should be situated away from neat sources such as radiators, hea t registers, stoves,

or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produc e heat..

9. Pow er So urces-The product should be operated only with the type of power supp ly indicated on the

marking labe l. If you are not sure of the type of power supp ly to your home, con sult you r produc t
dealer or local power company. For produc ts intended to ope rate from battery power, or other sources,
refer to the operation instructions.

10. Groun ding Polarization-This produc t may be equipped with a polarized alternating current line plug

(a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way
this is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug.
If the plug should still fail to fit, contact you r electrician to replace you r obs olete outlet. Do not defeat
the safety purpos e of the polarized plug.

11. Pow er-Cord Protection-Pow er supp ly cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked

on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, pay ing particular attention to cords at plugs,
conven ience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.

12. Cleaning-The appliance shou ld be cleane d only as recommended by the manufacturer.
13. Nonu se periods-The power cord of the applianc e should be unplugged from the outlet when left

when left unused for a long period of time.

14. Object and Liquid Entry-Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled

into the produc t case throug h produc t ope nings.

15. Damage Requiring Service-Unplug this produ ct from the wall outlet and take it to qua lified service

personne l und er the following cond itions .
a) When the power-supply cord or plug is damage d.
b) If liquid has been spilled into, or objects have fallen into the produc t.
c) If the produc t has been exposed to rain or water.
d) If the produc t doe s not operate when used according to the operating instructions.

Adjust only thos e con trols that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper
adjustment of other controls may interfere with the produ ct's normal ope ration.

e) If the produc t has been dropped or damaged in any way.
f) When the product exh ibits a distinct change in performance -this indicates a need for service.

16. Servicing-The user should not attempt to service the product beyo nd that described in the ope rating

instruction. All servicing should be referred to qua lified service personnel.

17. Pow er Lines-An outside antenna system shou ld not be located in the vicinity of overhead power

lines, or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits.
When installing an outside antenn a system, extreme care should be taken to kee p from touc hing
power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

18. If an outside antenna is conn ected to the receiver, be sure the antenna system is ground ed so as to

provide some protection against voltage surge s and built up static. Section 810 of the Nationa l
Electrical Code ANSI/NEFA 70 provides information with respect to prope r groun ding of the mast
and supp orting structure, grounding cond uctress, location of antenna -discha rge unit, size of
grounding electrodes, and requirements for the groun ding electrode (see figure).

19. Cleaning-Unplug this produc t from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or

aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning.

20. Lightning-For adde d protection for this produ ct during a lightning storm, or when it is left

unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconn ect the
antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the produc t due to lightning and power-line
surges.

21. Safety Check-Upon completion of any service or repairs to this product, ask the service technician

to perform safety checks to determine that the produ ct is in proper operation condition.

22. Overloading-Do not over load wall outlets, extension cords, or integral conven ience receptacles as

this can result in a risk of fir or electric shock.

NEC NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE
Do no t apply oil or petroleum prod ucts to this prod uct.

CAUTION

Invisible laser radiation will be emitted when the prod uct is ope n and interlocks are defeated.
Do no t defeat the safety interlocks.

GRAPHIC SYMBOLS WITH SUPPLEMENTARY MARKINGS ARE LOCATED ON THE
BOTTOM OF THE UNIT.

USE OF CONTROLS, ADJUSTMENTS, OR PERFORMANCE PROCED URE HEREIN MAY
