DEC

ALCIFIC

ATION

If

the

appliance

begins

to

produce

steam

more

slo

wly

than

usual

or

stops

producing

steam

and

then

starts

again,

you

may

need

to

decalcify

your

steamer

. Decalcifica

tion

refers

to

removing

the

calcium

deposits

tha

t

form

over

time

on

the

metal

parts

of

the

steamer

. F

decalcify

the

unit

from

time

to

time.

The

frequenc

y

depends

upon

the

hardness

of

your

ta

p

wa

ter

and

ho

w

often

you

use

the

Steamer

.

NO

TE:

To

reduce

or

elimina

te

the

occurrence

of

mineral

buildup,

we

recommend

the

use

of

distilled

wa

ter

in

the

unit.

To

decalcify

, use

a

solution

of

¹∕

³

white

vinegar

and

²∕

³

wa

ter

in

the

wa

ter

reser

voir

. Plug

the

unit

into

an

electrical

outlet.

T

urn

to

the

ON

position

and

run

until

half

the

amount

has

steamed

out.

T

urn

the

unit

to

the

OFF

position,

unplug

from

electrical

outlet,

and

allo

w

to

sit

for

30

minutes.

Remove

excess

wa

ter

from

the

reser

voir

by

unscrewing

the

top

of

the

steamer

and

holding

it

over

the

sink,

allo

wing

the

wa

ter

to

pour

from

the

internal

reser

voir

. Repea

t

the

above

procedure

as

man

y

times

as

necessar

y

until

a

normal

steam

ra

te

returns,

usually

2–3

times.

With

each

repea

ted

cyc

le,

use

a

fresh

solution

of

vinegar

and

wa

ter

. Run

one

cyc

le

of

fresh,

cold

wa

ter

through

the

unit

at

the

completion

of

decalcifica

tion

before

using

the

unit

again

to

steam

garments.

HOW

TO

STEAM

TO

REMOVE

WRINKLES

Grasp

the

garment

steamer

by

the

handle

with

the

steam

jets

facing

away

from

you.

Begin

at

the

bottom

of

the

fabric

to

allo

w

the

steam

to

rise

inside

and

outside,

removing

wrinkles.

Slo

wly

move

the

nozzle

from

the

bottom

to

the

top

of

the

fabric.

Some

fabrics

are

best

steamed

on

the

underside

of

the

ma

terial.

This

will

allo

w

the

fibers

of

the

fabric

to

relax,

elimina

ting

wrinkles.

color

fastness

in

an

inconspicuous

spot.
