Description
The AKG Model D 3800
M
is a rugged dynamic supercardioid
microphone intended for on-stage vocal pickup. The
microphone utilizes AKG's patented VariMotion system that
allows the response of the transducer to be tweaked during
its molding process and features a diaphragm of varying
thickness. Its polar pattern is uniform with frequency, and
response has been tailored at mid and high frequencies to
deliver improved speech intelligibility.
The microphone capsule is shock-mounted using AKG's
Double-flex shock mount system and is protected by an
easily-removable wire mesh grille. The D 3800
M
also
incorporates a humbucking coil to minimize noise from
electrical interference. The D 3800
M
has a modular output
which allows the microphone to be used with a standard
non-switched or with a silent on-off switch (D 3800
M
S) with
3-pin XLR-type output or with the AKG TM 40 module to
create a wireless microphone compatible with WMS 40
series receivers. The D 3800
M
's smooth triangular shape and
soft-touch paint finish makes it secure and comfortable to
hold. The lightweight body is die-cast zinc alloy and has a
black matte finish for minimum reflection and glare.
