I n t ro d u c t i o n
The PASCO ME-8978A Flex Rod is a unique variation on the
traditional lab stand. Use it with a base or table clamp (sold sepa-
rately) to support sensors, photogates, pulleys, diode lasers, test
tubes, and other lightweight equipment. The flexible
“goose-neck” tubing allows easily and accurate positioning by
bending the rod.
Sensors and other equipment can be screwed directly to Flex
Rod’s 1/4-20 threaded studs or held in the included rod clamp,
double clamp, or three-finger clamp. The rod clamp and double
clamp can also be screwed directly to Flex Rod’s threaded studs.
The rod clamp and double clamp hold cylindrical items up to 12
millimeters (mm) in diameter. The three finger clamp spans 62
mm when fully open.

The assembled Flex Rod can be mounted on any base or table
clamp that accepts an unthreaded 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) diameter
rod or a 1/2-13 threaded rod.
