Installation Instructions
IMPORTANT
TO PREVENT FUTURE FAILURES AND MAINTAIN WARRANTY STATUS, FOLLOW THESE
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION OF THE COMPRESSOR:
1.
The filter/drier, included with this compressor assembly, must be installed in the system before the
replacement compressor is started.
2.
Drier, 8930283 (UK165S), is to be installed in the suction line as close to the compressor as possible.
3.
Install a pressure access fitting before the suction drier.
4.
Install correct Manitowoc liquid line drier.
The filter/drier installed in the suction line is required to protect the replacement compressor from being contaminated
with microscopic metal particulates that may have been generated by the previous compressor failure. The liquid line
drier cannot filter out all of the particulates because of the refrigerant flow bypassing it during harvest.
With mild system contamination, it is not necessary to remove the filter/drier in the suction line. If this is a severe system
contamination, follow the clean up procedures published in our Manitowoc technical manuals, ultimately leaving a
suction line filter/drier in the system.
