Carburetor heater kits are recommended for improved cold starting in locations where the temperatures falls below 0

F). Carburetor heaters prevent condensation and carburetor icing. The heater turns on when the temperature at the
thermostat falls below approximately 4
_
C (40
_
F) and turns off when the temperature rises above approximately 16
_
C
(60
_
F).
The carburetor heater for models 6VSG, 8.5RES, 12RES/RESL, and 14RES/RESL/RESA/RESAL mounts between the
engine air cleaner and the carburetor. The carburetor heater for models 8/10/12RESV/RESVL uses an adaptor to mount
on the carburetor. The carburetor heater for models 17/18RES/RESL, 20RES/RESL/RESA/RESAL, and 20RESB fits
into a threaded opening on the carburetor.
Carburetor heater kits are available in 120 volt or 240 volt versions.
Note:
The heater requires a continuous source of AC power. The generator set must be connected to an AC power
source that is backed up by the generator set.
