The Extron

IPA T IPA

is an IP Link

®

Accessory Power over Ethernet Inserter that inserts power

into LAN cable to remotely power Extron IP Link products. The IPA T IPA is Power over Ethernet,
IEEE 802.3af, compliant and offers intelligent operation—it only inserts power when connected
to IEEE 802.3af compatible devices. It supports 10/100BaseTX Ethernet only.

Power over Ethernet is a technology for wired Ethernet local area networks that allows the
electrical current necessary for the operation of each device to be carried by the data cables
rather than by power cords. This minimizes the number of wires that must be strung in order
to install the network, resulting in lower cost, less downtime, easier maintenance, and greater
installation flexibility than with traditional wiring.
