IMPORTANT - READ OPERATOR'S MANUAL BEFORE OPERATING OR MAKING ADJUSTMENTS

SEAT ADJUSTMENT

1. Pull or l i f t body r e t e n t i o n latch (P/N 3934)

from transaxle b a c k i n g plate, r a i s e and push
body and seat assembly forward.

2. Loosen four seat b o l t s (P/N 3006) and s l i d e

seat forward or backward to d e s i r e d position.

3. Re - tighten bolts. DO NOT operate mower

w i t h o u t seat r e t e n t i o n bolts p r o p e r l y
tightened.

4. Close upper b o d y and p u s h r e t e n t i o n

latch (P/N 3934) over t r a n s a x l e b a c k i n g plate.

BODY REMOVAL

1.

The 304 has a (2) piece polyethelene body. The upper body can be f o l d e d

f o r w a r d to expose t h e t r a n s a x l e . In some cases, it m a y be n e c e s s a r y to
remove the upper body to service the transaxle.

2. To remove upper body, remove two bolts (P/N 3080) f r o m the front

of upper body hinge located on the brake shaft (P/N 9283). Disconnect seat
s w i t c h (P/N 4761) at p l u g - i n .

3. Reverse above procedure to reins tall.

ADJUSTMENT OF MOWER DECK DRIVE BELT

1. The mower deck d r i v e belt is t e n s i o n e d by a s p r i n g loaded engagement i d l e r

quadrant.

2. This system is designed to m a i n t a i n the proper belt tension at all times.

3. Belt t e n s i o n can be a d j u s t e d by m o v i n g t h e e n g a g i n g rod (P/N 7013) i n t o t h e

outside hole of engagement handle (P/N 7020).

4. After, b e l t t e n s i o n is adjusted, check to assure t h a t t h e mower b l a d e w i ll not

turn freely when the e n g a g i n g rod is in the "OFF" position.

5. If the mower b l a d e turns freely, a d j u s t t h e blade by l o o s e n i n g n u t (P/N 3205)

at end of the brake rod (P/N 2988).

6. A f t e r a d j u s t m e n t is achieved, p e r f o r m t h e s a f e t y checks l i s t e d b e l o w .
