PUMP INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING

• PUMP SHOULD ONLY BE USED TO PUMP WATER.

• DISCONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER TO COOLER BEFORE INSTALLING OR SERVICING PUMP.

• PUMP INSTALLATION MUST COMPLY WITH COOLER MANUFACTURER’S SPECIFICATIONS AND APPLICABLE

ELECTRICAL AND BUILDING CODES.

• DO NOT HANDLE ENERGIZED PUMP WITH WET HANDS OR WHEN STANDING ON A WET OR DAMP SURFACE.

• USE ONLY IN UPRIGHT POSITION.

• THIS IS NOT A SUBMERSIBLE PUMP.

• DO NOT USE WITH COOLER WATER RESERVOIRS OVER 4 INCHES IN DEPTH.

INSTALLING PUMP

1. Choose Location of Pump:

A. Position pump at location specified by cooler manufacturer.

B. If not specified, install pump in the location shown in the shaded area of figure 1. This location will be:

1) near blower housing, 2) away from blower pulley, 3) near pump electrical connection, 4) away from float

valve, and 5) away from cooler pads. Ensure that it is positioned away from water sources which could

enter motor housing and damage pump.

2. Install a filter screen or basket around pump base to prevent clogging of pump and water distribution system,

especially when aspen pads are used.

3. Mount pump inside cooler using cooler manufacturer’s original pump mounting bracket. If necessary, use a

different, separate, pump mounting bracket (for example, Dial part # 1505 or part # 1513). Secure bracket to

blower housing or to blower housing support bracket. A pump mounting screw is provided on top of pump to

secure mounting bracket to pump.

IMPORTANT:

The pump must be secured so that it won’t tip which would

cause an electrical safety hazard.

4. Securely attach pump hose to barbed pump outlet and to water distributor adapter at top of cooler with pump

hose clamps. NOTE: Use 1/2 inch I.D. pump hose for 5,000 through 11,000 CFM pumps. Use 5/8 inch I.D. pump

hose for 15,000 to 21,000 CFM pumps. Use 3/4 inch I.D. pump hose for 25,000 CFM pumps.

5. Connect pump to electrical source. Make certain supply voltage is the same as the pump voltage.

PUMP MAINTENANCE

CAUTION:

DISCONNECT POWER TO COOLER AND UNPLUG COOLER PUMP PRIOR TO ANY MAINTENANCE

1. Rotate pump shaft by hand before the start of each season to loosen motor rotor.

2. Clean pump cavity when clogged by removing bottom of baseplate. To remove baseplate, first remove the plastic

lock (see figure 2). Next unlatch each baseplate snap. Do not use screwdriver to remove baseplate snaps.

Reattach baseplate by following sequence numbers on baseplate bottom. Start with 1 and progress until each is

snapped into place. Reinstall the plastic lock.

3. Discontinue use of pump when motor stops and starts due to overheating.

4. If pump does not operate, inspect for faulty cooler switch, thermostat or for faulty wiring. Pump may be plugged

into a different source to verify the issue is with the pump or the electrical source.

5. To winterize cooler pump, remove from cooler and store in dry place. Do not winterize cooler using a “plastic”

cooler cover.

LIMITED WARRANTY

1. Pump is warranted under normal use and recommended maintenance for 1 year from date of sale to user. In

event of defect or failure, replacement is made through your authorized dealer or retailer.

2. Reason for replacement, purchase date, failure date and sales receipt must accompany pump returned

for replacement.

3. Warranty is void if pump has been abused, altered, water damaged, improperly installed or stored in a cooler

winterized with a “plastic” cooler cover.

4. We do not pay the cost of a service call at the site of installation to diagnose cause of trouble or the cost of labor

or transportation to replace a defective pump.

5. We are not responsible for any incidental or consequential damage resulting from any malfunction.

CAUTION:

Risk of electric shock — This pump is supplied with a grounded, three prong plug. Be certain

it is connected only to a grounded receptacle. Do Not remove third prong from plug.

6. Secure excess pump cord inside cooler to prevent cord from touching the water in reservoir or on pads, as well

as any moving parts such as blower wheel.

CAUTION:

Route pump cord in the same manner as was done in the original installation (for example, through

clip on blower support bracket). If pump cord remains loose, then the cord must be secured using additional

means, such as plastic cable clamps or cable ties available at many hardware stores. Make sure cord is taut

before operating pump.

7. Fill water reservoir to depth recommended by cooler manufacturer, usually between 2-1/4 to 3 inches deep

(or approximately 1/2 inch below the top of the overflow pipe). Adjust float valve to shut off at recommended

water depth.

IMPORTANT:

Reservoir depth must not exceed 4 inches.
