Using the Casio EA-100 Data Collector
to Collect and Transfer Data
The Casio EA100 collects and analyzes data using a variety of probes. The
EA100 is packaged with three probes: temperature, light, and voltage. It is also possible
to purchase additional probes manufactured by Vernier Software and Technology: motion
detector, pH sensor, EKG sensor, gas pressure sensor, humidity sensor, oxygen and
carbon dioxide sensors. By utilizing this technology, classroom teachers can offer
students a wide range of opportunities to explore and discover various everyday natural
phenomena in a way most students and teachers have never experienced. Middle and high
school students using this kind of technology can begin to see how the mathematics they
do in math class can be used to help them better understand the science they discover and
learn in science class. The following sections will provide information and instructions
for using various probes and channels and explain to you how to connect with the FX2.0
graphing calculator so that you can draw graphs and analyze the data in deeper detail.
