IC- opens most of what Icom user manuals list, and the block after it is where the entries divide: IC-F4TR, IC-F7000 and IC-F2810 keep an F in front of their figures, while IC-208H goes straight to numbers and EX-2714 changes the opening letters altogether.
Manual is the only document label in use, and the heading recorded against every entry is Other, so a visitor is working from the string alone from the outset.
Where a code carries a letter at the end, as IC-F4TR and IC-208H do, that letter is the part most often lost between the equipment and the search box, and it is also the part that separates one entry from another, which makes a code read off in full worth more here than one recalled in outline.
