GROUNDED PLUG

As a safety feature, this product is equipped with a grounded plug, which will only fit

into a three-prong outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper

connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult

a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

Warning:

this appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent

removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not

attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.

Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel.

ELECTRICAL CORD

1. A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to

reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

2. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and

may be used if care is exercised in their use.

3. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:

a) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension

cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance.

b) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a

grounding-type 3-wire cord.

c) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the

countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

Note:

If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified

personnel; in Latin America, by an authorized service center.

HOW TO USE

This product is for household use only

GETTING STARTED

• Before first use, wash the interior of the kettle and the scale filter with hot

soapy water and rinse well until water is clear.

• Select a level surface where this unit is to be used allowing enough space

for steam to escape without damage to counters, cabinets and walls.

• Uncoil power cord from power cord holder at bottom of the power base.

• Fill kettle with 4 cups cold tap water and 2 cups vinegar and place on

power base. Close cover.

• Plug cord into standard electrical outlet.

• Bring to a full boil and discard water.

• Fill kettle with at least 6 cups of cold tap water. Bring to full boil and

discard; repeat. Kettle is now ready for use.

Note:

The kettle will only operate when the I/O (On/Off) switch is in the

I (On) position. The kettle will automatically switch off once the water has

boiled. The kettle will automatically shut off if there is no water in the kettle.

FILLING THE KETTLE

Press lid release button to open cover of kettle. Fill with desired amount of

cold tap water (from 4¼ to 7 cups). Be sure water does not come above the

max line to prevent boiling water from spilling onto the counter.

Note:

• Do not operate the kettle without water.

• Do not overfill the kettle – keep water level below the max line.

• Do not open the cover while water is heating.

HOW TO USE (CONT)

BOILING WATER

1. Press lid to close.

2. Place kettle on the swivel base so the element on the bottom of the kettle

rests securely on the swivel base.

3. Position kettle with spout facing away from walls, cabinets and your body.

4. Plug the swivel base into a standard electrical outlet.

5. Press the I/O (On/Off) switch button to the I (on) position (there will be a

click), the light comes on and the water begins to heat.

6. When water boils, the kettle will automatically shut off and the indicator

light will go out. Do not try to hold the switch in the I (ON) position once the

water has boiled.

7. To reuse the kettle, allow it to cool down. Before pressing the I/O (On/Off)

switch check that there is enough water in the kettle. Simply press the I/O

(On/Off) switch to the I (ON) position or pour out any unused water and refill.

Warning: Kettle filled with boiling water is hot. Use only the stay-cool

handle to pick it up. When taking kettle to the table, carry kettle with

caution to avoid spillage. Set it on a trivet or hot pad to protect the table

surface or tablecloth.

8. Hold kettle level when pouring, especially when filled to maximum. Do not

pour too fast.

Note:

Make sure lid is closed before pouring hot water from the kettle.

9. To remove kettle from power base simply lift up.

10. Empty and unplug the kettle when not in use.

REMOVABLE FILTER

Always boil water with the filter in place just behind the spout.

CONCEALED HEATING ELEMENT

This unit has a boil/dry protection safety feature that automatically turns off

the kettle when boiling starts or when there is no water inside the kettle.

BUILT-IN-SCALE PROTECTION

Lime scale forms over time in the kettle when water is heated. Though

harmless, it may be bothersome. The concealed heating element in the kettle is

designed to help reduce scale buildup. The kettle has a removable filter at the

bottom of the pour spout to prevent particles from pouring into your beverage.

CARE AND CLEANING

This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified

service personnel.

CLEANING

1. Before cleaning, be sure the base is unplugged and the kettle has cooled

completely. Empty any remaining water from the kettle.

2. Pull out the removable filter for cleaning. Wash the filter in hot, soapy water

and rinse or place it in the utensil holder of the dishwasher.

3. Wash the inside of the kettle with hot, soapy water and rinse.

Important: Never immerse the kettle in water or other liquids or place in

a dishwasher.

4. Wipe exterior of the kettle and base with a damp cloth or sponge and dry.

Note:

The heating element at the bottom of the interior may discolor. This will

not affect performance. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansers, or scouring pads.

Note:

Over time, the kettle may heat up but will not boil, depending on your use

and the hardness of the water in your area. When this happens, it is time for

descaling. Use a scale/lime remover and follow its manufacturer’s directions.

CORD STORAGE

Conveniently store the cord beneath the base by wrapping it around the

grooves on the base.

ENCHUFE POLARIZADO

Este aparato cuenta con un enchufe polarizado (un contacto es más ancho

que el otro). A fin de reducir el riesgo de un choque eléctrico, este enchufe

encaja en un tomacorriente polarizado en un solo sentido. Si el enchufe no

entra en el tomacorriente, inviértalo y si aun así no encaja, consulte con un

electricista. Por favor no trate de alterar esta medida de seguridad.

TORNILLO DE SEGURIDAD

Advertencia:

Este aparato cuenta con un tornillo de seguridad para evitar la

remoción de la cubierta exterior del mismo. A fin de reducir el riesgo de incendio

o de choque eléctrico, por favor no trate de remover la cubierta exterior. Este

producto no contiene piezas reparables por el consumidor. Toda reparación se

debe llevar a cabo solamente por personal de servicio autorizado.

CABLE ELÉCTRICO

1. El producto se debe de proporcionar con un cable eléctrico corto (o uno separable),

a fin de reducir el riesgo de tropezar o de enredarse en un cable más largo.

2. Existen cables eléctricos más largos y separables o cables de extensión

que uno puede utilizar si toma el cuidado debido.

3. Si se utiliza un cable separable o de extensión,

a) El régimen nominal del cable separable o del cable de extensión debe

ser, como mínimo, igual al del régimen nominal del aparato.

b) Si el aparato es de conexión a tierra, el cable de extensión debe ser un

cable de tres alambres de conexión a tierra.

c) Uno debe de acomodar el cable más largo de manera que no cuelgue del

mostrador o de la mesa, para evitar que un niño tire del mismo o que

alguien se tropiece.

Nota:

Si el cordón de alimentación está dañado, en América Latina debe

sustituirse por personal calificado o por el centro de servicio autorizado.

COMO USAR

Este product es solamente para uso doméstico.

PRIMEROS PASOS

• Antes del primer uso, lave el interior del hervidor y el filtro del sarro con

agua caliente jabonosa y enjuague bien hasta que el agua salga clara.

• Elija una superficie plana donde poner esta unidad permitiendo suficiente

espacio para que salga el vapor sin dañar mostradores, armarios y paredes.

• Desenrolle el cable de alimentación desde el asidero del mismo en la parte

inferior de la base de energía.

• Llene el hervidor con 4 tazas de agua fría del grifo y 2 tazas de vinagre y

coloque en la base calentadora. Cierre la tapa.

• Enchufe el cable en un tomacorriente regular.

• Deje hervir el agua completamente y deséchela.

• Llene el hervidor con al menos 6 tasas de agua fría del grifo. Deje hervir y

deseche; repita. Ahora el hervidor está listo para usar.

Nota:

El hervidor funcionará únicamente cuando el interruptor I/O

(Encendido/Apagado) esté en posición I (Encendido). El hervidor se

desconectará automáticamente una vez que el agua haya hervido. El hervidor

se apagará automáticamente si no tiene agua.

LLENAR EL HERVIDOR

Presione el botón de desenganche para abrir la tapa del hervidor. Llene con

la cantidad deseada de agua fría del grifo (de 4 ¼ a 7 tazas). Asegúrese que

el agua no pase de la línea del nivel máximo para evitar que el agua que está

hirviendo salpique sobre el mostrador.

Nota:

• No haga funcionar el hervidor sin agua.

• No llene el hervidor demasiado – mantenga el nivel del agua debajo de la

línea del nivel máximo.

• No destape la cubierta mientras el agua se está calentando.

• No haga funcionar sin el filtro removible en el espacio

HERVIR AGUA

1. Presione la tapa para cerrar.

2. Ponga el hervidor en la base giratoria de modo que el elemento en el fondo

del hervidor descanse firmemente en la base giratoria.

3. Coloque el hervidor con el pico alejado de paredes, armarios y de su cuerpo.

4. Enchufe la base giratoria en un tomacorriente regular.

5. Presione el botón I/O (Encendido/Apagado) a posición de I (encendido;

escuchará un “click”), se enciende una luz y el agua comienza a calentar.

6. Cuando el agua hierva, el hervidor se desconectará automáticamente y la

luz indicadora se apagará. Una vez que el agua haya hervido no trate de

mantener el interruptor en posición I (Encendido).

7. Para volver a usar el hervidor, permita que enfríe. Antes de presionar el

botón I/O (Encendido/Apagado), fíjese que el hervidor contenga suficiente

agua. Simplemente presione el botón I/O (Encendido/Apagado) en posición

I (Encendido) o vierta el agua no utilizada y vuelva a llenar.

Advertencia: El hervidor estará caliente cuando está lleno de agua

hirviendo. Para levantarlo sujete únicamente por el asa que se

mantiene fría. Cuando lleve el hervidor a la mesa, trasládelo con

precaución para evitar derrames. Colóquelo sobre una base resistente

al calor para proteger la superficie de la mesa o el mantel.

8. Al verter mantenga el nivel del hervidor, especialmente cuando esté llena
hasta el máximo. No vierta demasiado rápido.

Nota:

Antes de verter agua caliente del hervidor, asegúrese que la tapa esté cerrada.

9. Simplemente levante el hervidor para retirarlo de la base calentadora.

10. Vacíe y desenchufe el hervidor cuando no está en uso.

FILTRO REMOVIBLE

Siempre hierva agua con el filtro en su sitio justo detrás de la boquilla.

PROTECCIÓN DEL ELEMENTO DE CALENTAMIENTO

Esta unidad tiene una característica de seguridad y protección al hervir o

quedar vacía que automáticamente apaga el hervidor cuando empieza la

ebullición o cuando no contiene agua.

PROTECCION INCORPORADA CONTRA EL SARRO

Cuando se calienta agua, con el tiempo se forman depósitos de calcio.

Aunque es inofensivo puede resultar molesto. El elemento de calentamiento

protegido en el hervidor está diseñado para ayudar a reducir la acumulación

de sarro. El hervidor tiene un filtro de sarro en el fondo de la boquilla para

prevenir que se viertan partículas en su bebida.

CUIDADO Y LIMPIEZA

Este aparato no contiene piezas reparables por el consumidor. Para servicio,

por favor acuda a personal calificado.

LIMPIEZA

1. Antes de limpiarlo, asegúrese de que la base esté desconectada y de que el

hervidor se haya enfriado completamente. Deseche el agua que quede en

el hervidor y que no se vaya a usar.

2. Remueva el filtro. Lávelo con agua caliente y jabón, enjuáguelo y séquelo

bien o colóquelo en el recipiente de utensilios de la máquina lavaplatos.

3. Lave el interior del hervidor con agua y jabón y enjuáguelo.

Importante: No sumerja el hervidor en agua ni en ningún otro líquido ni

lo coloque en la máquina de lavaplatos. No use esponjas de aluminios

ni líquidos limpiadores.

4. Limpie el exterior del hervidor y la base con un paño húmedo o esponja

GUARDAR EL CABLE

Convenientemente almacenar el cable por debajo de la base de envolver

alrededor de las ranuras de la base.
